An elegant, extensive antique Edwardian silver-plated and mother of pearl dessert (fruit) cutlery service for twelve guests by the renowned Sheffield cutlers John Sanderson & Son (established 1892).

The set comprises twelve dessert knives and twelve matching dessert forks. Reflecting the transitioning tastes of the early 20th century, the service features sleek, unengraved silver-plated blades and tines, prioritising a clean, polished aesthetic.

Each piece is securely fitted with a genuine natural mother-of-pearl handle, selected for its brilliant iridescent sheen and dynamic play of light. The handles are joined to the upper sections by classic Edwardian silver-plated ferrules, neatly decorated with minimalist parallel bands and delicate beaded borders.

Markings
The reverse of each piece is crisply stamped with the maker's mark J S & S EP, identifying the maker as John Sanderson & Son and confirming the metalwork is high-quality electroplate.

Presentation Case
The service is housed in its original, robust solid oak presentation box, showcasing a rich, prominent wood grain characteristic of the era. The interior features a grand, fully fitted double-layer layout lined with its original, deep royal blue velvet, beautifully contrasting against the iridescence of the mother-of-pearl.
