A fabulous hand blown ‘Leather Bag’ carafe decanter, attributed to Whitefriars, with original cork and sterling silver stopper, hallmarks for makers mark HM, Birmingham 1900. This chic bottle decanter has four dimpled sides and a hand wrought ‘ruffle’ glass collar. The original cork stopper has a sterling silver cover with large ring pull handle.
Whitefriars started to create a ‘Leather Bag’ carafes in 1870, theoretically modelled on ancient peasant skin/leather bags used to carry wine in.
